Branding
- What is your mission and vision?
- When people think of your organization, what’s the first thing you want them to think of?
- When people think of your business/organization, how do you want them to feel?
- What is the tone/voice of your business/organization?
- What visuals do you want people to associate with your business/organization?
- How and when do you incorporate these into your marketing?
- Are you happy with your branding, why or why not?
- What is your tagline? If you have more than one, list them all.
- After you write down your taglines, share the following as a post on social media, “Can you name our company tagline?”
- Based on the above exercise, which of your taglines is the most widely known?
- What problems does your business/organization solve for your clients?
- Is that reflected in the tagline, mission, and vision?
- In looking at your website URL and your social media handles, are they all the same? For example, ABCLaw.com and @ABCLaw on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
- When is the last time you updated your website content?
- Search your business name in Google, what comes up?
- Search your personal name in Google, what comes up?
- Do you have a branding sheet that outlines your logo, brand colors, fonts, etc.?
- What does your company/organization do differently than anyone else?
- Do you have a brand story? (How you got started and why.)
- Who are your customers?
- Who are you trying to reach? (Your target markets/audiences)
- What are their personality traits?
- Why do your clients trust you or continue to do business with you?
- What words do your clients most often use to describe your service or product?
- In thinking about the branding of other businesses/organizations, which stick out to you and why?
Marketing Here and Now
- What marketing tactics are you currently doing? How effective do you think each of those items is? (Think in terms of both successes and challenges.)
- What are your biggest challenges with your marketing?
- What has been your most effective marketing strategy?
- What’s your goal with marketing?
- What are your biggest challenges in reaching your target markets?
- Who are your competitors?
- What does your current marketing strategy/plan look like? If you do not have one, please indicate that as well.
- Do people know what they can expect from you as well as when and where they can expect it?
- Where is your organization listed online? (website, social media, maps like Google and Yelp, etc.
- What are your expectations with a marketing campaign?
- Who are your existing advocates? For example, board members, YoPro group, volunteers, etc. These would be the people who help spread the word about your business/organization, share on social media, respond to email newsletters, interact with your business/organization on a regular basis, etc.
- How often do you interact with these advocates and how do you interact with them? (For example, some organizations might have an elite membership, a rewards club, etc.)
- What community activities do you currently have in place? This may be sponsorships, volunteering, etc.
- What networking groups are you a part of? Who attends and how often?
- Does your business/ organization participate on panels or other speaking engagements?
- How do you compile photos and videos of events, behind-the-scenes, special events, etc.?
- Do you have a marketing budget? If not, how much could you spend max per month on all marketing (advertising, social media, PR, sponsorships, networking, etc.
- How do you track leads or other marketing goals?
- How do you measure customer satisfaction?
- How are you tracking reviews?
- Who is in charge of reputation management (i.e., responding to online reviews, comments, etc.)
- If you could do one thing differently with your marketing, what would that be?
- What are the most popular and least popular pages on your website? Why do you think that is?
- What Call to Actions (i.e., CTAs) are on your website and other marketing materials?
- What action do you want your ideal customer to take that they are not currently taking?
