We previously shared 9 tips for social media messaging because we know how important messaging is when it comes to your social media presence. However, social media copywriting can be a bit tricky, which is why we’re sharing even more tips:
1. Stand out: Competition is tough on social media. Users are faced with a deluge of content 24 hours a day. Answer users’ questions to become a stand-out star.
2. Video is a must: When used in your posts, video generates more than 12 times the number of reposts than text and image posts. (Talkwalker, 2022)
3. Influencer marketing: Partner with an influencer in your industry and have them promote your brand to their social media followers. Influencers’ followers trust them. Your brand benefits by gaining new fans.
4. Avoid filler words: Filler words are designed to sound authoritative or meaningful but often lack content. These are some examples of filler words: hopefully, well, maybe, research shows, experts say, I’d say, cutting edge, some, many, some, most. Instead, get straight to the point.
5. Passive words vs active words: An active voice is clear and direct and describes what you did, without padding or ostentation. One example is “I did this”. A passive voice is used when there is a third-party speaker. For example: “This was done”. An active voice is much more powerful in its messaging.
6. Remove unnecessary words: Think forceful and concise. You don’t have a lot of space, so keep your content short.
