Today’s Grammar Refresher is about the difference between ‘assure,’ ‘ensure’ and ‘insure.’ This lesson will help you ensure that you use these words in the correct context.
Assure: To give someone a guarantee that will ease his or her concerns.
Example: I can assure you that the store will have your order ready this afternoon.
Ensure: To take an action to make sure something happens.
Example: The waiter wrote down the customer’s order to ensure that the kitchen made it correctly.
Insure: Refers to guarantees made through insurance policies.
Example: The company insures automobiles.
