Often scoffed for being the least popular of the social media channels, Google+’s user count may pale in comparison to Facebook and Snapchat’s, but the runt of the litter actually offers advantageous marketing potential for your business. Here’s why.
SEO benefits
Remember Google is the search engine giant. Google ranks content from its own social media platform higher than others in optimization, which means having a Google+ account increases your chances of showing up on Google search results. Each Google+ post has its own special URL, and Google indexes each of those posts increasing the chances of visibility by a large margin. While paying for Google AdWords is still be necessary, you shouldn’t miss the opportunity to reap extra opportunities for online attention to your business (especially when its free).
Generate Follower Growth
It’s easier to create a community with similar interests and generate a loyal following on Google+. The social media platform is largely interest-driven which makes it easier for people in your niche to find you – ultimately connecting you to the audience of your dreams. You can share your content to your circles or to the public, and you can even choose the number of people you share your posts with by adding their names into Google’s share box.
Local Attention
Whenever you search for a product or business on Google, you’ll notice Google gathers a list of nearby businesses and bumps them to the top of the search results page. This is known as the “local search carousel,” and Google considers the number of followers and the number of client reviews on your Google+ Business page for placement.
Xanax
Sparks
Google+’s version of a newsfeed, the Sparks feature updates you with information from topics you care about. You can type in your interests, and then watch your newsfeed fill with relevant news and posts on that topic.
Hangouts
Google+ has got its own snazzy instant messaging feature called Hangouts. You can send messages, and have video chats with as many as four people, which comes in handy when holding quick meetings outside of the office. There’s also Huddle, which facilitates group messaging.
YouTube Connected
Google owns YouTube, and if you’re using video for your business – which you should be doing – you can enable YouTube tab on your Google+ profile so others can easily find you on YouTube. You can reach more users with your videos too by uploading a video to YouTube and having it automatically post onto Google+.
