10 Ways You Can Use LinkedIn for your Business.
When people talk about marketing efforts on social media networks, the last platform you think about is likely LinkedIn because we are so used to getting on Facebook, Instagram and engaging with our audience on Twitter or any other network. However, LinkedIn is an amazing tool that you can implement in your marketing strategy, whether you have a small, medium, or large business.   What is LinkedIn? LinkedIn is a social network for the business community, where professionals can connect, share and learn different things about the industry, employees, and any professional topic. Many people consider LinkedIn to be “the Facebook for businesses”, which is not entirely wrong, especially considering how they look and how interactions are made. However, LinkedIn works differently and will help your business in a way Facebook (or any other social network, for that matter) can´t.   What to do in LinkedIn? Despite being one of the most popular social platforms, many people still don´t know what LinkedIn is, or if they do, they don´t know how to use it to their advantage. Here are some ways you can use LinkedIn to increase your engagement and help your business:
  1. Set up your account: it may sound obvious, but it´s important to know that after creating your account, you need to set it up with all the information needed. By having basic information, people and companies will be able to find you, maybe a potential client, employee, or a business with which you could establish a relationship or association. Make sure to write a brief description of your business, add your website URL, the location you´re at, or where you serve. You can also add a custom button to encourage action from visitors (visit website, learn more, sign up, etc.)
  2. Find targeted customers and connections: using LinkedIn, companies can target industries, company size, and job roles, which is useful when it comes to connecting with specific people or companies to have a relationship, or even to offer your products or services. You can also set your advertising campaigns to be shown to your highly targeted connections or customers.
  3. Invite your connections to be a part of your email marketing list: whenever you connect with someone, there´s the possibility to message them, so it´s a good idea to thank them for connecting with you, can offer them to be a part of your email marketing list. To do so, don´t forget to be reciprocal by telling them what they´ll receive by signing up, but also offer to do look at something of theirs.
  4. Post high-quality content: like any other social network, content is key when it comes to having an online presence and increasing engagement. For LinkedIn, the ideal image size is 1128 x 376 pixels. But above that, it is imperative to create content tailored to your audience, things that will add value to them and that will make them interact, connect, purchase, or whatever your specific goal is.
  5. Join groups: LinkedIn groups provide your community with an online forum, so it is a good idea to join groups in your business niche in order to be part of the conversations and connect with community members.
  6. Be consistent: make sure you have a schedule calendar, and stick to it. If you post regularly, it is more likely to increase your engagement (if the content is appropriate). But don´t post all kinds of things, stick to your niche´s interest.
  7. Avoid hard sells: even though LinkedIn is a business network, people don´t like it when a company or salesperson approaches them out of the blue and tries to sell them their products or services. Like any other social network, try not to push too hard, on the contrary, let people find you and apply inbound marketing strategies.
  8. Build relationships: Not everything has to be selling and growing your page followers. Build relationships with the connections you already have, make sure you are giving something valuable to your audience, but also interact with them and talk. This way, you will be related to brands or people who can add something to your company.
  9. Interact with other people´s content: it´s not enough to push information. In order to make actual connections, you need to interact with them. You don´t always need to be the subject of conversation.
  10. Remember LinkedIn is a professional network: despite it being a social media network, LinkedIn is used for professional purposes, so act like a professional and avoid informal personal interactions.
