What Is E-A-T?
Expertise, authoritativeness, and trustworthiness (E-A-T) are three important elements of any piece of content. Furthermore, they are signals of what Google and potential users are looking for, making it one of the most important aspects of SEO.  When you deliver high-level content on your website, you can have a higher search engine ranking since Google’s algorithm prioritizes content that promotes good E-A-T content. You can also see an increase in behavioral metrics, such as time on page and click-throughs to other pages within the website. Consider that people are more likely to share content if it is viewed as valuable. Let’s explore each term of E-A-T.

Expertise.

You can share content revolving around what you professionally do and your area of expertise within a field. You would want to talk about what you do and what you offer, but you can also talk to people from an area of experience on a specific topic. You can share your experiences and how you dealt with them and overcame certain obstacles.  If you want to navigate around topics that aren’t entirely within your area of expertise, you don’t need to panic; you just need to do plenty of research and have credible sources to back up the material you create. You may also want to collaborate with trusted experts to achieve a high level of expertise. The main objective of showing your experience is for the audience to perceive you and your brand as trusted experts in the field, this way they can rely on you and your offers.

Authoritativeness

Authoritativeness is the reputation that you or your brand hold in the industry. You establish it when your content receives mentions within your niche on niche topics.  When other experts link to your content, this shows how polished and trusted your material is. It is important to not only show expertise but also deliver on what the title and headlines suggest in your content. While links are considered to be better, you can also aim to have mentions throughout different media outlets, such as the news or social media platforms.

Trustworthiness.

Whatever content you include on your website must be credible, accurate, cited, and overall trustworthy.  Some tips you may want to consider are having a Terms and Conditions page that is accessible to people, ensuring that your website’s domain is secure, stating your physical location (office, store, or other important locations), citing all the sources when appropriate, and being clear about who wrote the content.   Now that you know what E-A-T stands for, make sure to apply what this article suggests.
