How to Create Conversation on Twitter to Boost Leads

When your business is using social media, most often the goal is to turn your engagement into leads. Each social media platform operates slightly differently and therefore requires a different approach in your marketing strategy. Most of the sites are becoming very much “pay to play,” requiring businesses to purchase ads in order for their posts to be seen by more people. However, there are still some things that you can do to help bring in leads without pulling out the company credit card. On Twitter, your best strategy may be to engage in conversation. (Klonopin)

Here are some ways that you can create conversation to generate more engagement with your brand, and ultimately more leads through your Twitter account.

Use Trending Topics

Twitter is basically one big chat room where you can talk about almost anything you want, therefore, it can seem overwhelming if you don’t know where to start. Perhaps the easiest place to begin is by checking out the trending topics listed on the left side of your homepage, or find them by clicking the magnifying glass at the bottom of your mobile app. These may be listed as hashtags, terms, or even people’s names. Whatever the word is, if it’s listed as a trending topic, then that means that there are a lot of people on Twitter talking about that topic.

If your business or industry is related to something that is trending on Twitter, and you can add to the bigger conversation about that topic, then go for it! Make sure your tweet is relevant to you and the trending topic, and don’t start in immediately with a hard sell if the topic is directly related to your product or service. The idea is to add to the conversation, not turn people off from interacting with a sales guy.

Join the Conversation

Similarly to tweeting about a trending topic, another way to increase engagement and find potential new clients is by joining an already existing conversation. Are the people you follow talking about something on your feed right now? Can you add valuable knowledge or experience to that conversation? Go ahead and jump in if you have something relevant to say, but again, make sure you aren’t just tweeting for the sake of tweeting, but ensure your tweet is adding value to what is being said and to the people who are a part of the conversation.

Pose a Question or Poll

In general, people like to interact with others on social media, that’s why it’s called “social!” You can encourage interaction beyond your followers by posing an open-ended question or adding a poll to your tweet. This could also be a good way to gain valuable insights into what consumers of your product or service want from your organization. Make sure that when people respond to your question that you are also responding back. Interaction back and forth is what keeps a conversation alive and what also brings your Twitter account to life! Make it fun for everyone by getting your followers’ creative juices flowing with an interactive question.

Share Eye-Catching Media

There’s a reason that certain memes and videos go viral. Usually, they are either funny, aesthetically pleasing, or resonate with a lot of folks on an emotional level. Use these types of photos, graphics, videos, and memes to start conversations on your Twitter feed. Refer to the last point and pose a question with a beautiful photo, or use a funny meme that is slightly controversial, as long as you are comfortable with that. Anything that can generate a conversation will bring you more engagement, more followers to share your content with daily, and better brand awareness and leads in the long run.

Take the Conversation Off Twitter

Once you start a really solid conversation through tweets with someone who is interested in what you have to say, take the conversation further by either direct messaging them, or contacting them via their own blog or website. If you are already sharing a conversation, that person is likely to appreciate if you visit their site and comment or engage with their content as well. Offer to give them resources, a referral, or simply be a source of valuable information. Remember, most people buy from people they like, so don’t immediately go for the hard sell. Make sure you are cultivating long-term relationships not only in real life, but through your social media accounts as well.
